YOU DON'T HAVE TO COMPROMISE YOUR HEALTH FOR A COAT OF POLISH
Polish Change was created by a licensed nail technician and nail care expert to offer safer alternatives to traditional nail salon products and services. By creating a professional, salon-worthy nail polish, it was important to keep it awesome. Our polish does not contain the following:
Formaldehyde - Formaldehyde may cause skin irritation and allergic reactions. In traditional nail polishes, it is used to bond with keratin which harden nails and helps it adhere better to your nail.
Formaldehyde Resin - Formaldehyde Resin has been known to cause skin irritation and allergic reactions. It is added to traditional nail polish to reduce chipping and enhance the finish.
Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) - DBP has been known to cause reproductive toxicity. Traditional nail polishes use it to increase flexibility of nail polish after it dries.
Ethyl Tosylamide - Ethyl Tosylamide has been banned in the EU because of its molecular similarity to some antibiotics. Exposure to Ethyl Tosylamide could help the evolution of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Ethyl Tosylamide helps to level traditional nail polish on the nails and adds flexibility to the formula.
Toluene - Toulene has been linked to temporary symptoms such as headaches, dizziness and nausea when inhaled. Ongoing exposure to Toulene may lead to lasting neurological effects. Toluene is a solvent that dissolves other ingredients in traditional nail polish.
Camphor - Camphor is toxic if ingested or has entered your blood stream may cause liver damage. Definitely not good if your salon uses traditional sharp instruments, during your service. It is used in traditional nail polish to increase flexibility and enhance the finish.
Triphenyl Phosphate - Triphenyl Phosphate may be toxic to reproductive and endocrine systems and is highly toxic to aquatic life. It is used in traditional nail polish to reduce chipping.
Parabens - Parabens have been linked to a number of conditions including breast cancer, skin reactions and increased sensitivity to UV radiation. They are commonly used as a preservative to help extend the life of polish in the bottle.
Gluten - Gluten is a thing in some nail polish. Yep, gluten. Basically, some traditional nail polish contains Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein which is used to help strengthen the nail. If you have Celiac Disease or a gluten allergy, don't play around.
Xylene - Xylene may cause headaches, dizziness and nausea. It is used as a solvent to dissolve other components of traditional nail polish and evaporates when polish is drying.
MEHQ (Mequinol)/HQ (Hydroquinone) - MEHQ may be carcinogenic and can cause skin sensitivity. These act as stabilizers which help maintain the texture of traditional nail polish.
MIT (Methylisothiazolinone) - MITay has been known to cause contact dermatitis. It is used as a preservative to maintain the texture of traditional nail polish.
Vegan Friendly - Our polish does not contain any animal products. Whether you are vegan because of health options or the love for animals, you're good.
Cruelty-Free - This ties in to be vegan-friendly for us but not all traditional nail polishes. We do not test our polish or use supplies that are tested on our furry little friends. Period.
